Former Indonesian first lady Ani Yudhoyono treated in Singapore for blood cancer

Former Indonesian First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, the wife of former Indonesian president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is being treated in Singapore at the National University Hospital (NUH) for blood cancer since 02 Feb 2019.

The former Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, said on 13 Feb 2019 Wednesday that she was currently under intensive medical care at the National University Hospital in Singapore.

“I ask for prayers from everyone that God will cure my beloved wife so that she can continue her activities back home,” Dr Yudhoyono, who is also chairman of Indonesia’s Democratic Party, said in a press conference in Singapore.

He also thanked President Joko Widodo, the government and all well-wishers for the attention and support for his wife.

“As a husband, of course, I will remain at her side. I know that she is a strong person. She has accompanied me through thick and thin,” Dr Yudhoyono said.

Dr Yudhoyono also spoke of his wife’s support for him, in particular during his 10 years as Indonesia’s leader between October 2004 and October 2014.

The couple has been married since 1976 and have two children.
