In late May, a woman in Hangzhou, China, endured a terrifying attack that left her with over 20 stab wounds. But what helped her survive wasn’t just luck or quick thinking—it was her breast implants.
According to Chinese news outlet ETtoday (June 14 report), the incident occurred on May 22 in the underground parking lot of a popular shopping mall. The woman, identified only by her surname Ma, was reportedly ambushed by a stranger wielding a knife. The assailant forced her to comply with bizarre demands, including paying his parking fee, and tried to leave the area with her.
While pretending to stay calm, Ma managed to send a hidden SOS message to her boyfriend. He quickly tracked her location using a phone-finding app and alerted police.
Help arrived just in time, but the confrontation took a violent turn. As officers closed in, the attacker suddenly turned on Ma, stabbing her repeatedly in the chest. Despite her efforts to shield herself, she was severely injured.
Here’s where the unexpected twist comes in: Ma later revealed that she had undergone breast augmentation surgery in the past—and the implants acted as a physical barrier, absorbing several potentially deadly blows. Only one stab managed to puncture her lung. Doctors confirmed she was in stable condition following emergency treatment.
The attacker reportedly died by suicide shortly after the incident. Authorities have since closed the case.
While the circumstances are horrific, Ma’s survival has sparked conversations across social media in China.
