After years of teasers, casting rumors, and a whole lot of internet guesswork, Marvel Studios delivered its official X-Men cast reveal at D23 2026 — and the internet has not stopped talking since. Kevin Feige walked onto that Honda Center stage, and seven actors who’d reportedly just met each other backstage minutes earlier followed him out to become Marvel’s next generation of mutants.

Just when it looked like the roster was set, Adam Driver crashed the panel via a surprise video, revealing he’s joining as the film’s villain — a sinister figure going by Nathaniel Milbury, a name comic readers will recognize as an alias for a very famous X-Men antagonist (as Collider first confirmed).
Who’s Behind the Camera
Directing duties land with Jake Schreier, fresh off steering Thunderbolts* to solid reviews earlier this year. Pairing him with an ensemble cast this size — and a team dynamic as central to the X-Men as the powers themselves — feels like a deliberate bet on character work over spectacle-first storytelling.

The untitled X-Men film hits theaters exclusively on May 5, 2028. That’s a longer runway than most recent Marvel announcements, which tracks given how much ensemble chemistry this cast still has to build — remember, several of them were meeting for the very first time backstage before walking out to the crowd.
