Is Doctor Strange Secretly Working for Doctor Doom? These Leaked Photos Say Maybe
Just when you thought you had Avengers: Doomsday figured out, the internet goes and finds a guy named Boris.
A batch of leaked promo-style photos has been making the rounds this week, and fans are convinced they’ve spotted a familiar face hiding in plain sight — behind a full metal mask, no less. The character in question is credited only as “Boris,” dressed head-to-toe in black Latverian robes, a draped hood, a ceremonial sash, and segmented metal gauntlets that scream “I serve Doctor Doom now.” But it’s what’s on the mask that has everyone talking: a single circular slot, dead center on the forehead, exactly where a certain sorcerer once had a third eye burned into his skull.
Yeah. People think Boris is Stephen Strange.
Wait, Why Would Strange Be Working For Doom?
If you’ve followed the MCU’s multiverse arc, this isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds. Strange has spent the better part of three movies bending, breaking, and occasionally weaponizing the rules of reality — and Doctor Doom is, canonically, one of the few figures in the Marvel universe who can go toe-to-toe with him on raw magical theory. A defected or compromised Strange serving Doom, whether by choice, mind control, or some multiversal bargain gone wrong, would fit right into the “everything you know is upside down” tone Doomsday has been teasing since it was announced.
It also wouldn’t be the first time Strange’s loyalties got murky on screen. This is a character who’s cracked open forbidden books, dabbled in dreamwalking, and generally treated “the greater good” as a suggestion rather than a rule.
He’s Not Alone Up There
The same leak also gave us our first real look at what people are calling the Latverian Witches — a trio in color-coded robes (purple, green, and orange) standing alongside Boris like some kind of arcane honor guard. Speculation has already locked onto Clea, Sylvie, and a returning Wanda Maximoff as the likely candidates, which, if true, turns this into one of the more stacked magic-user lineups the franchise has ever put in one frame.
A Wanda comeback in particular would be a big deal. She was last seen collapsing a mystical temple on top of herself at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the MCU has never been shy about finding a loophole for a fan-favorite character when the story calls for it.
Take It With a Grain of Salt
None of this is confirmed by Marvel, and it’s worth remembering we’re living in an era where a convincing fake image is one prompt away. Leaks like these have a habit of turning out half-right, half-wishful-thinking. But the costume detail — that third-eye slot specifically — is a strangely (pun intended) precise thing for a random leaker to invent, and it’s exactly the kind of Easter egg Marvel’s costume department loves to plant.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 2026, and if Boris really is who everyone thinks he is, this might be the most elaborate hero-to-possible-villain glow-up the MCU has pulled off yet.
