A 33-year-old single mother, Ms Ayumi Ito, who was allegedly having an affair with a married man, was found dismembered in his home in Shizuoka prefecture, located on the south coast of Japan.
The victim’s body parts were discovered on the suspect’s balcony and in his car. On Feb 23, police arrested the suspect, Tsuchiya Yuki, 31, who has since confessed to dismembering Ms Ito’s body in his home.
He admitted to hitting her with a blunt object and strangling her with a cord in her car. Neighbours in Numazu, where Tsuchiya lives with his wife, two children and elderly father, reported hearing suspicious noises on Feb 20 or Feb 21.
Ms Ito lived in Iwata, about 130km away, and her car was found in a carpark approximately 280m from the suspect’s home.
Tsuchiya and Ms Ito reportedly met in 2022 while serving on a committee for the development of Shizuoka prefecture.
Tsuchiya worked as an adviser at insurer Manulife, as indicated by screenshots of his LinkedIn page that has since been taken down.
