So… What’s Actually Next for Spider-Man?
If you just walked out of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and immediately reached for your phone to Google “what’s after Spider-Man,” congratulations — you’re part of a very large club right now. That post-credits scene didn’t exactly hand us a neat little roadmap. No dialogue, no cameo, not even an actor on screen — just Ned’s Spidey-tracking app panning past Earth, past the Moon, into pitch-black space, where a single mask icon blinks somewhere out in the void. Then the familiar words: “Spider-Man Will Return.” That’s it. That’s all we got.
Wait, is he in Avengers: Doomsday or not?
This is where a lot of the online chatter gets ahead of itself. As of now, Tom Holland is not on the confirmed cast list for Avengers: Doomsday, which hits theaters this December. Given how deliberately vague that post-credits scene was, most reporting points to it being a setup for the film after that instead — Avengers: Secret Wars, landing in December 2027.
Why does that theory hold up? Because if the movies borrow from the actual Secret Wars comics, Doctor Doom essentially tears apart the multiverse and stitches the pieces back together into a single patchwork planet called Battleworld. A hero mysteriously vanishing off-Earth and reappearing somewhere that isn’t quite Earth anymore fits that setup a little too perfectly to be a coincidence.
Meanwhile, the other Spider-Man is wrapping up too
If animation is more your speed, mark your calendar for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, arriving June 2027. It closes out Sony’s Miles Morales trilogy, following a long wait since Across the Spider-Verse left things on a cliffhanger back in 2023.
Here’s the part that’ll get fans talking: these two Spider-Men might not stay in separate universes forever. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said outright that there are plans to bring Miles into live-action “sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends.” No casting, no timeline — but it’s officially on Marvel’s radar, not just fan wish-casting.
The bigger Marvel picture
Zoom out and Spider-Man is just one thread in a much bigger weave over the next couple of years. Avengers: Doomsday arrives first this December, assembling heroes from three separate universes. After that comes Beyond the Spider-Verse in mid-2027, then Secret Wars closes out the current Multiverse Saga by the end of that year. Further down the runway: Black Panther 3, a Ryan Gosling-led Ghost Rider, a Shang-Chi sequel, and a long-rumored Nova movie — none dated yet, but all reportedly in motion. So nothing is locked in for Peter specifically beyond that ambiguous “will return.” But between the space-tracker cliffhanger and the Battleworld theory lining up so neatly with Secret Wars, it’s a safe bet the next Spider-Man movie takes him a lot farther from Queens than usual.
